The Bethlehem Saints Football team was established in 1972 by founder Mr. Charlie Brown who grew up on the South Side of Bethlehem. At the time there were only a handful of coaches and just one weight class suited up. The 120 lb team was the only team to hit the competitive field that year. Because the Cleveland Browns were Charlie's favorite team, it was decided that the Bethlehem Saints would adopt those colors as well. To this day the Saints family wears the orange and brown proudly.
Recently, the Bethlehem Saints moved to a new field location at Saucon Park. The field was dedicated to former Philadelphia Eagles player, Chuck Bednarik, who was from Bethlehem, Pa also. The legendary Mr. Bednarik is well known as the last of the “60 Minute Men”.
The organization has grown tremendously and continues to strengthen year after year. The Football and Cheerleading program is designed to introduce, teach and develop the fundamentals of football and cheerleading to local youth, as well as to promote good sportsmanship, teamwork and good health. The program also provides individual self-esteem through dedication, confidence building, skill development and commitment, while emphasizing the importance of family values, academic achievement, and fair play.
The Bethlehem Saints offer a competitive and organized environment for children ages 5 yrs-13 yrs old. While making a mark in the community over the years, the Saints have had numerous league and divisional championship teams. Many of these outstanding athletes continue on to middle and high school level competition. Playing with the Saints prepares them for their future endeavors and has created experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
